PRESS STATEMENT.

His Excellency Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura has expressed dismay with the attitude of some civil servants in the state who abandon their duty post and only appear at month end to collect salaries without commiserate service delivery

The Governor said that Government will not condone any act of insubordination and truancy, and as from now Henceforth, government will not hesitate to apply sanctions in accordance with civil service rules against anybody caught indulging in such act which will also be viewed as sabotage against government effort.

Consequently upon that, His Excellency has said that ministries and parastatals will introduce quarterly evaluation to access the performance of civil servants in the state.

In view of that, the state government will conduct internal census in all ministries and parastatals to ensure compliance with its directives and strict adherence to civil service rules and regulations.

Governor Almakura also frowned at the attitude of some civil servants who are in the habit of turning government property for personal use or take them home, henceforth government will treat such attitude as criminal and those found wanting will be handed over to security agencies for necessary action.

In other to ensure zero tolerance to such criminal behavior, government will establish a desk officer to handle criminal related matters in the civil service.

And also For administrative convenience and to reduce cost of governance, the state government is presently working to see how ministries, parastatals and departments will work more efficiently without duplication or conflict of roles.

His Excellency wishes to re-assure civil servants across the state that the exercise is not an attempt to retrench workers but to rather strengthened the civil service and restore its lost value and glory as the engine room of every successfully administration.
