His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has commended His Excellency former Head of State Gen. Dr. Yakubu Gowon for his love and concern for Nigeria which has preoccupied his time as he has worked for more unified and prayerful Nigeria.
Governor Almakura made this known as he received General Gowon and the North Central Coordinators of Nigeria Prays who were in Nasarawa State for their Fifth Zonal Rally in 2016 which would hold in Lafia Sunday 30th October 2016.
Governor Almakura who lauded the contributions of Gen. Gowon whom he described as “the father of unified Nigeria”, who had tirelessly traveled the nation spreading the message of better health and need to prevent certain illnesses such as malaria.
Tasking the Nigerians the Governor said “individuals that have attained certain positions of leadership have been challenged to embark on activities that will see to the growth of Nigeria and its people .”
He assured the Nigeria Prays Team of the government’s resolve towards ensuring that have a successful rally of the Nigeria prays in Nasarawa State .
Speaking earlier, Gen. Gowon commended Gov. Almakura for all that he was doing in the state, stating that they were always hearing the stories and now they were here and seeing for themselves.
The Convener and Former Head of State made it clear that it was not a Christian prayer group stating that it included Muslims and Christians for the purpose of seeking Gods intervention for the progress of Nigeria .
Gen. Gowon expressed his thanks to Nasarawa state for hosting this Zonal Rally assuring the the people that they would surely be put in prayer.
Nigeria Prays is a call for Christians and Muslims to be involved in praying for the country; its peace , unity and well being . The Programme which was started in 1996 under the leadership of a former Head of State Gen. Dr. Yakubu Gowon calls for total commitment to peace and stability and prayers for the leadership at National , State and LGA levels. The North Central Rally to hold in Nasarawa would comprise of Benue , Plateau, Kogi , Kwara Kaduna and Niger States.
