His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has highlighted sports as a major component towards curtailing youth restiveness by creating conducive environment engaging youth in sporting activities.
Gov. Almakura made this known as he received the President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick who was in state for a retreat with members of his team.
Gov. Amakura explained that the administration had a deliberate policy tailored at engaging youths in sporting activities.
He stated that the administration was currently constructing sporting arenas in the state capital, and would also consider use of any available land in other Local Government Areas for use for the same purpose.
He commended the NFF President for the decorum with which he handled the football administration within the country, affirming the state readiness to collaborate with the apex soccer body so as to ensure Nigeria come out on top in the game of football.
Speaking President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick commended the Nasarawa state Government for its efforts at substance and boosting f the Nasarawa United and the Nasarawa Amazons as well as his active embrace of sports which has given the youths role models and goals to achieve removing them from the streets and giving them enabling environments to practice and have an active life in sports which he has done very well.
He described Nasarawa state as being blessed with Governor Almakura that as a fighter who knows what he wants for his people and would work towards achieving it , as well as the Deputy Hon. Silas Ali Agara who is was very supportive to sports.
The NFF President lauded Gov. Almakura for attaching premium to peace security and infrastructural development, noting that the socio economical impetus would greatly add towards developing the state
Amaju Pinnick used the visit to reveal the plan by the NFF to start a “Goal Project “ in the six geopolitical zones of the country , stating that when it was complete one would be sited in Nasarawa State . Stating that with the atmosphere in the state was conducive and the NFF would see the possibility of bringing a key match or two to Nasarawa State.
