Nasarawa State Recieves Appraisal Committee Report, To Enact Reveune Generation Measures
Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa State yesterday received a report from the 20-man Transition Appraisal Committee at the Lafia Government House.The Committee was inaugurated on the 11th May, 2015 to evaluate the performance of his administration effect from 29th May, 2011 to 29th May, 2015.
Presenting the report which contained three (3) volumes with five terms of reference, the committee chairman, Dr. John Ogbole expressed satisfaction with the governor for identifying them worthy for the exercise, stressing that the committee has identified nine (9) challenges needed to be tackled for the interest of the state. “As a people, we need to wave away sentiment, religious and political differences for the development of our young state. We need to sacrifice for the state from leaders to followers or followers to leaders” Ogbole noted.
Receiving the report, Governor Al-makura commended the committee for the wonderful job done, adding that the entire people of Nasarawa State appreciate their efforts and for setting up a roadmap for the state. He assured them that government will meticulously study it and implement the report accordingly.
Governor Al-makura who also spoke on the financial status of the state, called on local government councils of the state to embark on aggressive internally generated revenue drive, as according to him every individual must contribute his or her quota for the interest of the state.
“Let me announce to you that now onward it is the responsibility of every civil servant from all levels to pay development levy. From my level as the governor, deputy governor, my allowances must be cut down for the interest of the state’s survival and other people. I urged all civil servants in the state to imbibe the culture of maintenance by handling properly government property such as vehicles, houses and other facilities” Al-makura said.
