Gov. Almakura Lauds Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) For Efforts At Promoting Peace In Nasarawa State

His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has commended the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) (Nasarawa State Chapter) for their relentless efforts of imbibing spiritual teaching and prayers towards sustaining peace and peaceful coexistence amongst the people of Nasarawa State.

Gov. Almakura gave the commendations as the CAN Nasarawa State visited to felicitate with the Government and bring greetings in the spirit of Easter at the Government House Lafia.

The Governor thanked the Men of God for the visit, commending them for their efforts at teaching and guiding the people not just those of their flock but all people within the State. Lauding them for their actions towards sustaining peace in the state especially their visits to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps within the state where they brought tremendous support in relief material, cash donations and much needed hope to all the people, asking that they receive blessings for the deeds to humanity.

Describing their visit as a blessing, where the state and the people were lucky to have them praying for the state which has contributed in no small measure towards the growth of the state. He assured them that the Government would always listen when they preach, admonish and counsel assuring them that they would internalize their teachings.

The Governor assured them he would look into how to restart the inter religious council meetings which were previously held , he describe it a timely and needed to be restarted as such meetings the would add value to a multi-religious multi-ethnic place like Nasarawa State which would require the guidance of the religious leaders to guild and provide a needed forum especially with the upcoming activities of the next coming months.

He spoke on how God in his wisdom created all people different and have different ideals, he assured them that he took oath to be fair and just as Governor all the people of the State.

He assured them the Government would look into their request of increasing the number of persons going to the Christian pilgrimage this year, and he donated five million Naira to CAN to purchase a big generator for the CAN Headquarters and assured them of that the space for the construction of a place of worship at the Muhammdu Buhari International Market Karu was provided in the plan, calling on them to bring up the building designs.

Speaking Earlier the leaders of the Delegation and CAN Chairman Bishop G.J. Masin made it known they were there to felicitate with the Government at Easter and also condole the Governor over the passing away of the Former Governor Aliyu Akwe Doma .

Bishop Masin stated that they were also there to identify with the governments transformational agenda of the state and for taking the necessary steps to maintain relative peace which was being experienced in the state, praying that God would continue to give the Governor wisdom to continue to pilot the affairs of the state.

Lastly , reminding the Governor of their requests which include reactivation of the Inter religious Council Meetings , Increase in number of pilgrims, a place of worship at the Muhammdu Buhari International Market Karu and the need for power source at CAN Head Quarters.
