His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has reaffirmed the commitment of the Nasarawa state Government towards meeting the housing deficit in Karu Area of the state to ensure affordable housing for all.
Gov. Almakura made this known during the ground breaking ceremony for a Site and Services scheme at the old orange market in Mararaba, Karu local government area.
The project which is to occupy the over twenty five hectares of the demolished Old Mararaba Orange market, would entail the provision of basic infrastructure like water electricity and road. He explained that the prospective developers would be prototype designs so as suite the state governments urban renewal and physical development posture.
Affirming that the sites and services scheme is aimed at providing decent and affordable houses for low and medium scale earners, Gov. Almakura noted that the project is to be completed in six months. Assuring of its capacity to carry out the project within the stipulated period.
The Representative of Tongyi, the Chinese firm handling the project, Vincent Yuo said the site will be made attractive to the prospective developers. In their separate inputs, State Commissioner of Lands and Physical Planning, Sonny Agassi as well as the Project Consultant, Canonic and Associates gave assures of the suitability of the site and services scheme among other similar projects to provide the much needed residential layouts in Karu axis.
