Briefs from the Nasarawa State Executive Council Meeting March 29th, 2017

The Exco Meeting was presided over by the State Governor His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura , the Deputy Governor His Excellency Hon. Silas Ali Agara was in attendance with the SSG Barr. Mohammed Hassan Abdullahi, the Head of Service Mr. Thomas Ogiri and all serving Honorable Commissioners.

The meeting which lasted over 4 hours enabled the Council to deliberate on the multiple pressing issues that were on the agenda for the day.

Following the meeting the press were briefed by the Hon. Commissioner of Information , Culture and Tourism Hon. Abdulhamid Kwarra supported by the Commissioners of Justice, Agriculture , Works, and Environment who disclosed the following:

That council reviewed and approved the expenditure approval limit of the four structures of the state public service where the new limits were set.

Council ratified approval for the award of contracts for the rehabilitation of Gudi Junction Agwan Zaira 14km Road at the cost of N519,025, 312 .50 .

Council ratified approval for the takeoff of the Proposed Command Science Secondary School Lafia by approving N159, 458, 860.52.

Ratification of approval the award of contracts for special projects within the Southern Senatorial Zone at N175,886,109 was approved.

Council ratified approval for the award of contract in respect of the Neighborhood Market Lafia at N568, 102 ,960.78

Council ratified the approval for the registration of students in public school for the NECO 2015 senior Secondary School Examinations N236, 154, 800.00.

Council approved the construction and rehabilitation of some identified structures in some public school for the sum of N300, 000,000.00.

Council ratified approval for the payment of the 2014/2015 bursary allowance to students of Nasarawa state origin in tertiary institutions across the country for the sum of N294, 076,000.00.

Council ratified the approval for the grant of counterpart funding to Nasarawa state participate in the Nigerian erosion and watershed project at the sum of N500,000,00.00 has been grated as counterpart funding.

Council also discussed the visit of the Hon. Commissioner of Agriculture to Pakistan were he presented his report to the council and samples of rice seeds that would produce in the state, where he made it known that he led a team fro Nasarawa state to Pakistan which included the V.C Nasarawa State University, and Agricultural experts from the state higher Institutions where they discussed various collaborations between the Pakistani University and Nasarawa state.

Council also discussed the report on the recovery of Nasarawa State Assets outside the state where the Hon. Commissioner of Justice presented a Report to the Governor , briefing press that the Liaison office in Lagos had been recover as well as other properties in Jos, Plateau State.
