Nasarawa State Ministry of Commerce, Industries and Cooperatives came into existence when Nasarawa State was carved out of Plateau State in October, 1996, during the regime of Late General Sani Abacha.
The Ministry is charged with the responsibilities of promoting industrial, commercial and cooperatives development polices and guidelines of the State Government, with the view to improving the economic welfare of the citizens.
In addition, the Ministry assists in overseeing effective implementation of Minerals and Mining Policies of the Federal Government of Nigeria in the State.
The Ministry’s policy thrusts are as follows:-
Ensure optimum utilization of resources;
Creation of opportunities for active private sector participation in the economic development of the State, aimed at generating employment opportunities for our people;
Stimulation of rural industrialization through cooperatives approach and establishment of catalytic projects in the State.
Government-owned Parastatals under the supervision of the Ministry are as follows:
1. Nasarawa Investment and Property Development Co. (NIPDC) Ltd, headed by a Managing Director
2. Nasarawa Minerals Development Co. (NIPDC) Ltd., headed by a General Manager
3. Nasarawa State Cooperatives Development Agency (NASCODA), headed by a General Manager
The Ministry is made up of six Departments headed by a Director each. Apart from the six Departments, there is an Internal Audit Unit headed by an Internal Auditor, all under the supervision of the Permanent Secretary.
These Departments are:

Finance and Accounts department
Industries & Mineral resources department
Planning, Research & Statistics department
