His Excellency Umaru Tanko Almakura has described the 13,000 hectare Gurku- Kabusa project as a gold mine that is greatly needed , given the proximity of Nasarawa State to the Federal Capital Territory , stating the project would commence in no distant time.
Gov. Almakura made this known as he received Nasarawa Development Platform Consultants led by Dr. Kamal Azar MD of Siraj Holdings who were there to give a presentation of the areas and how the state could approach such big find .

Describing the 13,000 hectares as the real gold mine for the state ,Governor Almakura affirmed that planning the area will arrest the activates of land speculators , thus making it possible for developer to ensure total compliance of the master plan. He made it known that due the desire to totally develop the area , as well as insure that everything that should be done must be done in conformity with existing land laws and planning rule and regulations. Stating that the whole of the area had been declared a planned area and warned land speculators and the public not to encroach on the area.
Delivering a presentation of the expectations in the area Managing Director Siraj Holding , Dr. Kamal Azar explained that the Kabusa Hills which stretches over one hundred and fifty two square meters is bigger that the Federal Capital Territory . He said that the area had been divided into 29 districts so as to facilitate its development , stating that the first phase of the project would concentrate on eight districts with particular emphasis on one district.
He assured that the area would be serviced with world class facilities that would attract investors and residents , he made a call for enhanced collaboration with the FCT on construction of some important roads. Dr. Azar said showed how the design team had used the huge resources at NAGIS during the survey of the area and had worked on the most important thing to the would be residents of the area which where water , road network and power which had all been sorted out.
Speaking at the event Minister of State for Environment , Ibrahim Usman Jibril lauded the initiative and spoke on the huge potential of the Nasarawa State Government investment in NAGIS and its uses in all aspects .
The Minister assured that the project would undoubtedly herald development in the state , a view that was further collaborated by the Commissioner of Lands , Sunny Agassi as well as Tonwplanner Nathaniel Atebije who also spoke on the prospects of such venture that could bring what is seen outside the country to Nasarawa State.
